If there one takeaway I’m getting from many here at #MMConf is that apps need marketing. “A good app markets itself” is bullshit.Remember that your employees have/should have a life outside work - @holman Something we too often forget in our industry #MMConf
Retweeted by Matteo Manferdini@sla_shalafi Do you? The article speaks about 60 million macs and 100 million iPads. Anyway I’ll take a paying smaller market any time.@sla_shalafi If I give you a tool that saves time and money you will pay for it a good price. A spoiled kid with an iPhone never will.@sla_shalafi I think there will. The market is skewed by cheapskate customers that before didn’t exist at all. The others should still exist@sla_shalafi Omnifocus, for example, is 20$ and always has been. For iPad it’s 40. That’s the model that always worked for computers.@sla_shalafi But I also think that at some point prices will start to go up as well. Some companies always did it and it worked.@sla_shalafi I think that the App Store(s), with charts and staff picks made possible a race to the bottom that was not possible before.@sla_shalafi People are irrational.@sla_shalafi I think it was the book you lent me that spoke about cheating as a proper strategy.Sell 5% of the industry’s PCs, and take 45% of the industry’s profits (or 72%, for mobile phones). That’s the way you do it.
